Chandrasekhar Annasaheb Damle... and his inmates at the terminal ward of a general hospital. All waiting their final wait. And while they deal with the finality of a slow, painful and lonely death, Chandu's stories give them the power to wink and smile at its very face. Reciting stories, recounting anecdotes from his own life, he brings hope and joy to his listeners and almost unknowingly, offers a meaningful absolution to the unfulfilled aspirations in their own.
Its a play that gives you the chance to get swept off convincingly into the make-believe world of Chandu's stories. The richness of his narratives, their quirky hilarity, their assured hopefulness that always manage to weave a picture that is involvingly conclusive. Ironically though, it is only when their incompleteness is revealed, that you get to admire the real brilliance of the true storyteller and the steep price he pays to be one. But is the price worth paying? Chandu answers you and himself, through the last story we hear from him that evening. His very best.
